Please help - Thinking of going to Canada

Posted by Guy R. on 2/17/02 at 16:49 (074025)

I was thinking of going to Canada to have the ESWT procedure. The provider there uses the Siemens Sonocur machine in combination with LILT. They claim a very high success rate. I have no idea if this a good method. Can any body give me any advise?

Guy: One of the main people with Sonnocur posted on our board for a long time (David Lowry). I have not seen or heard from him lately. There equipment is low power, several treatments over a short period of time, and priced very low. They have been doing this for a long time and I would sure have no problem at all going to one thier clinics especially if I lived near the border. I think that in U.S. Dollars the 3-4 treatments is less than $1000. David Lowry will talk to you and send you a package on their treatment. I cannot remember their website but you might search on the board here because it is posted by Scott and others. it might be http://www.sonocur.com or http://www.siemens.com .

Try also http://www.sonorex.com . At the web site you might explore the Canadian as well as the U.S. portals.

Blue Cross and Blue Shield is now paying for ESWT. Do you have that kind of insurance?

Hi Linda A,

Are you talking about all BC / BS policies, or maybe just your particular state? This would certainly be good news. Thanks

ESWT Treatment locations in Canada:
1) Bayshore ESWT Pain Clinics, Tel. 905-949-6669, email: (email removed), website: http://www.bayshore.ca (Greater Toronto area)
2) Dr. Rob Gordon, Tel 416-545-1166, email: gordon@shockwavedoc.com, website: http://www.shockwave.doc (Toronto)
3) Dr. Antony Galea, Tel. 416-620-6861, email: antonygalea@mobile.rogers.com (Toronto)
4) Sonorex clinics
To my knowledge, Bayshore is the only ESWT pain clinic in North America that uses a combination of ESWT and Low Intensity Laser Therapy with increased success rate. Their therapist informed me that 80% of their patients do come from the United States.
