Posted by Melissa V. on 2/23/02 at 12:41 (074820)

Dr. I have had 3 surgeries to the same foot. Decompression of the calcanal nerve. Fibroious tumor removal, scar tissue removal, and partial nerve removal. Now I'm faced with diabetis type II. Neuraphathy in this foot. Now I'm looking at possible amputation. What vitamins and supplements do you recommed I take to reverse the neuraphathy? Please help!! I'm only 35 yrs old. I need this foot!!

Melissa:

You had mentioned heart problems as a side effect of vitamins on your other post. That should not happen --- what were you given?

There is no cure for diabetic neuropathy but sveral things can help--
1)control blood sugar as well as possible, 2)alpha-lipoic acid -- this is considered alternative medicine in the US but is a mainstream treatment in Germany. Amputation should not even be considered. I would need a lot more details about what has occurred though.
