Posted by Shonda G. on 4/04/02 at 16:20 (078502)

I have twin daughters whose father is 6'5 and wears a size 16.
My girls are 11 years old and wear a womens size 11. One of them
have severe heel pain consistantly. Someone said find out about
Oshterslauters??? (I'm sure I misspelled that) But I can't find it
anywhere on-line, can you help?

You may be thinking about Osgood-Sclatters disease -- not a consideration here. Most heel pain in 11 year olds is caused by Sever's Disease, an inflammation of the growth plate in the heel bone. It is very easy to treat-- no one should have to put up with the pain. I have never had a case of Sever's disease, in my 20 years of practice, that I have not been able to cure using a custom molded orthotic with a deep heel cup.
