What is the difference between heel spurs and plantar fascia?

Plantar fascia is the connective tissue that runs from the toes to the bottom of the heel. When the plantar fascia rips it will calcifiy with bone and this is what is called a heel spur. This heel spur formation comes from the repetitive motion injury and tearing of the micro-fibers at the plantar fascia insertion
