Shock Therapy

Posted by Guy W on 4/17/02 at 15:06 (080019)

I was watching the Early Show the other day, and there was a doctor and patient on proclaiming a new cure for P.F. It was a simple 30 minute shock therapy treatment. Apparently a mild current was applied directly to the area of the foot that was in pain. The woman said she had not been able to wear shoes for almost three years, yet after one treatment, she was able to wear shoes and had no more pain. Does anyone know about this treatment?? I am very interested. Thank you.

Perhaps they are referring to ESWT. There is a whole section on this site devoted to it.

Thank you for your response Ed. However, I do not believe this is what I saw and heard. The doctor on the show had a hand held device that sent electrical impulses into the foot. The results were instant, and certainly not the multiple weeks discussed in the shock wave therapy. This apparently is a brand new procedure. I hope you or someone knows or has heard more about this.

It sounds too good to be true. If something sounds to good to be true then....
