coffee break and a bit of catching up time!

Posted by Tammie on 5/01/02 at 10:07 (081947)

I have a few min before time to tackle the phone and hurried life so I wanted to take a few min to thank you my friends for the great ideas for looking for a gown for Nikki! That really is a good idea, I now have learned it will not just be my daughter shopping for THE gown hahah but a friend and shoes and hair stuff (oh no) and all the things (they) think are needed for this one day semi formal! See she is done with middle school she will be a freshman in high school soon and this is the last big rah to celebrate the big step. Oh my what a ordeal!

I am going to look around and see if we have any of thease consignment shops around here or the mall, as we live about a hour away from mall and store type things like this, we are in the country!Just a few pickings of stores besides grocery here.Yes it is to be special and It makes me realize my baby is growing up!I have my second child graduating in a month or less and one returning home from college for summer and now It seems we will have my mother in law till we can place her comfortably!Hubby is leaving Mon early am to get his mother , she is in fla. and it will take a week most likly for them to return home. Hubby is doing well from his surgery which is a Gods send, as there is to much already to deal withhahah!so again thanks for the great idea and now to get moving!

Tammie,

So happy to hear that your hubby is doing well! Has the Dr. said anything about his long-term prospects, how long he thinks your hubby will be able to get around OK without more surgery? You said it might be as much as 3-5 years...

I have a 'baby' graduating this month, too -- my third daughter, Gwendalyn.

Ty he seems to be holding his own pretty well considering his prior troubles with the RA. The Dr. told him that when he comes to see him in 4 weeks he would know much more! He is expierancing some compensary pain as of now due of course to the knee injury. When he had his surgery the dr. seemed doubtful to whether or not it could be put off or not his hope was to get another 3 to 5 yrs without total knee replacements as both knees now are in bad shape. So at this point not really a answer. Just hoping as always. Now change of plans , hubby flys to florida tomorrow afternoon, oh my things seem to never slow down ha. I now have to take him to airport tomorrow and then be back to get daughter from track hahah then fri at 4:30 am leave for a day work and return home to pick daughter and friend up from track pratice then procede to dress and shoe shop then come home and die haha! Next wed hubby will fly home with his mother who will stay with us till we can get all the paper work done and admit her to the home I work at.I work wed. so am going to leave a bit early to get to airport on time.Sounds like a bustling few months ahead!

So a daughter graduating, how nice is she excited and have plans for after? R u having a huge grad party? I have been thinking of that next lol, I am thinking my son wants $ that I would spend on big party , so may get off with a small family type picnic swim type party as we have a nice pool and deck. So I do not really want huge teen parties as I will not allow any alchol here in my home with teens. I do not want the responsibility and I do not allow HIM to drink . But then what do I know I am only the mother and shudder to think about the things I do not know!!!! He is walking with stars in his eyes as he beleives he is in love at the tender age of 18, I should laugh as I married at 17 which has been 25 yrs and we are still fighting the odds of a lasting relationship!I feel funny telling him about the odds and how smart he would be to be settled with a college degree and money in his pocket and in his O saving acct, more often then the nest egg he was to keep for college.LOL so yes it is going to be a very interesting few months ahead! Take care I am off now to retrieve daughter from track and get back to help hubby pack for tomorrows flight. I am a bit scared for him to fly but he has his private piolots licence flown planes all of his life pretty much hah, small private ones of course not airliners. He has no fear but me, I am a yellow belly green colored scardy cat to fly. I like my feet close to ground and not in water or in the air for more then a short min or two haha!

Gee Tammie you've sure got a lot on your plate!

I hope that your hubby has a safe trip to FL, and that he's doing well after his surgery.
Sounds like you and the whole family has a busy schedule this Summer.
Please take time to rest those feet. I know that its hard to do sometimes, and I for one need to practice what I preach.
Even though I miss you on the IM chats, your always in my thoughts and prayers. One of these days we will have time like we use to. The conversations we all have on those chats do wonders for my soul!!
Love ya dear friend and keep in touch.

Tammie,

Hope your hubby has a safe, uneventful trip!

Good luck with the dress shopping!

No, we aren't hosting a party for our daughter's graduation; she plans to party with friends... And no, I'm not worried about that because she is a sensible kid; I trust her. ... I figure, all you can do is the best you can do, and just keep on doing it until finally they grow up & go on their own. And after they reach THAT point, it's really too late to change anything anyway! This is the third daughter to leave the nest, so it isn't a new thing for us but of course it is always traumatic for a mother, regardless.

OOoh, your own pool! How refreshing!!

Well, hang in there; I know you must be getting real tired of this long WAITING for your appointment with the pain specialist...
