hairline fracture in foot so no Cortizone shot?

Posted by Carol B. on 6/13/02 at 17:49 (087494)

My podiatrist said since I may have a hairline fracture (hard to see on X-ray so I will go for more tests) I should not get Cortizone shot for pain from plantar fasciitis. But the Vioxx, stretching, ice etc. are not helping and the pain is awful. Your thoughts please. Thanks

My pod said the same -- no cortisone shot if there is a fracture -- but are you sure it is a fracture? My second pod sent me for a CT as he didn;t think it was a fracture, and sure enough, it was not -- it was an inflammed bipartite sesamoid. Mar
