Ossotron or surgery?

Posted by Cheryl C. on 6/29/02 at 18:24 (088780)

I am a 51-year old woman who has been dealing with plantar fascitits/bone spurs for 15 years. For some unknown reason things have gotten dramatically worse for the past year and my activities are nearly completely curtailed. Yes, like many on this site, I've spent a small fortune over the past years on physical therapy, special shoes, orthotics, OTC inserts, heel pads, anit-inflammatory drugs, shots...I could go on. I've always said I'll never have surgery but I have reached the end of my tolerance of both the pain and the severe limits to my life. Can anyone talk to me about the Ossotron treatment? There is a specialist who can provide this treatment about 2-hours from where I live. The doctors I'm dealing with here don't seem to know anything about it. Should I pursue it?

We have used ESWT for the past three years. ESWT is a very effective option to any plantar fascia foot surgery. Our choice for ESWT machines is the dornier epos ultra. This is a high energy treatment can avoid hospitization and has a very high sucess rate. If you would like additional information about ESWT treatment and how it can avoid surgery just let me know by emailing Dr. Z at (email removed) and I would be very happy to send you our ESWT packet.

Cheryl, you can go to the healthtronics.com website and get some information. Click on products then click on orthopaedics, then ossotran. Thanks Scott and all the professionals and caring people on heelspurs.com for caring about others. Blessing to you all! Gail R
