Foot Pain

Posted by Glenn on 7/19/02 at 06:06 (090074)

I have a sharp pain in the front middle of my left foot. It sounds very much like plantar fasciitis, however I do not have pain in the morning, nor is it on the heel or the arch.

I am 36 and run (started 6 months ago) frequently; however I have run several 5K's with no pain, this has only come about in the last 3 weeks.

It's at its worst when I walk barefoot.

Is this plantar fasciitis, or something else?
Do the type of running shoes one wears affect it? Ie. too tight, bad fit, ect.
What can prevent it? (I stretch frequently now, especially the calves. I pulled the right calf back in May)

Regards,
G-

Glenn:

It does not sound like plantar fasciitis. Sharp pain usually means nerve. I wouls suggest seeing a doctor so a proper diagnosis can be made.
