ORTHOTICS POST?

Posted by RACHAEL T. on 8/24/02 at 22:47 (093444)

I am wondering what is meant by 'posts' in an orthotic...? As usual, my prescribed orth. have a built up arch, but now my pod. is saying that I could need a 'post' on the outside of my orth. What purpose would it serve? Pls. advise....Thanks!

A post in an orthotic is something like a like a little block of wood that's attached to the bottom of the orthotic to raise it up on the inside or outside in either the front or back of the orthotic to correct for some odd behavior in the wearer's gait.
