Leg Cramping

I forget which vitamin it is but a deficiency can cause leg cramps. Is it vitamin D? One of you smarties will remember.

but I know that pregnant women are often advised to increase calcium intake (without phosphorus) and make sure to drink plenty of water. Perhaps the Vitamin D has to do with milk which also contains calcium? I'm grasping at straws here!

as a runner, when I have leg cramps, I load up on food rich in potassium

It's calcium, John. It's usually recommended to take it with magnesium, which helps absorption.

Lack of salt (as in dehydration) can also cause cramps.

Thanks, all. I do take a lot of calcium, but do not drink as much water as I should. I'll increase the water and add potassium. Hopefully, that'll be it.

right you are Julie and it now comes back to me about addiding the magnesium. leg cramps are a very common problem among athletes especially in the heat.
