Need good sandals

Posted by Sue M. on 9/05/02 at 10:22 (094520)

I don't have time to read all the threads. Im sure this has been answered somewhere. I'm so tired of wearing my orthotics and tennis shoes this summer and the sock tan line has to go. I need a sandal with a REALLY GOOD solid arch support. Any input is appreciated. Thanks, Sue M.

Probably the most popular sandal among those that post here is the Birkenstock 'Arizona' model. You can look at it at http://www.birkenstockexpress.com and see what you think. It has the Birkenstock 'classic footbed' which is an orthotic footbed.

Getting the right size is helpful, so that the 'arch bumps' hit your foot in the right place. So, if you have a Birkenstock store in your area it might be worthwhile to go in and have them determine what size is best. Or, you can order online and if they don't fit, most places will let you send back the shoes for a different size.

Do they have the arizona with a strap in the back?

Yes, it's called the Milano, I think. But most people seem to prefer the Arizona.

Sue, I have been really happy with my Mephisto sandals, they are very comfortable after a long day on my feet. I know a lot of people love the Birkenstocks, tho I haven't yet tried them. I did find a web site that boasts thousands of Birks and also a 6 month walk test, which I find appealing. The site is http://www.footprints.com . I have not ordered from them but thought you might like to check it out. Good luck finding what you need. I know people on this site are more than willing to share info.
