Broken Fibula possible cause of PF?

Posted by Susanna W on 9/11/02 at 09:15 (094998)

Hi,

I would like to find out what is causing pain in my heal.

I broke my ankle severely last November and had to have surgery to fix the bone. 2 screws where inserted.

I still have swelling round the ankle and sometimes in the calf muscle.I started experiences pain in my heal fairly recently and I know a major problem causing this is my weight, however I don't know why the pain in my heal is there particularly. Could the break have caused this problem.

I had physio and was discharged with excercises.
I have now booked a private health care appointment with a physio to see what he thinks independently.

Could you offer any advice going on the information I have given?

Thanks, Susanna

Individuals with significant ankle fractures often healt with some tightening of the heel cord. The tight heel cord is a major prdisposing factor to PF.
