MRI or Ultrasound?

Posted by Dave R on 9/27/02 at 18:30 (096356)

In the case of a plantar fibroma.......
Between Ultrasound and MRI....which one do you think might give a better indication of:

1. the degree of nerve entanglement with the fibroma?
2. the degree of attachment between the plantar facia and the fibroma?

Thank you!

Plantar fibromas are usually part of the the plantar fascia -- they arise from the plantar fascia generally.

Unlikely to visualize nerve entrapment with either MRI or ultrasound.

Unless something beyond the fibroma is suspected, getting either test is not likely to provide much useful information. Money is better spent on getting treatment.
