Virus

Posted by john h on 10/07/02 at 08:10 (097000)

As most of you know there is a rapidly spreading virus (Windows) that takes control of your address book and spreads the virus to all who are in it. If you get a message from Judy with her GCCD address BEWARE! I received one talking about her computer was ready to be indexed with an attachment. I did not open it but it is not something she would likely send to me.

This one is supposed to be a really BAD virus, the worst one in a long time. They said on the news that it could have any one of a number of message titles, and as examples they gave 'Bad News' and others that I have forgotten but which I think were about winning things, or getting a loan approaved, and so on.

After I heard about it on the news, I updated my Norton Internet Security, got new virus definitions, and did a full scan, and enabled the high security settings. I'm pretty satisfied with Norton, and their products can be downloaded at their website http://www.symantec.com . Also I don't use address books or Outlook at home, so that helps too.
