lump on heel

Posted by Michele W on 10/21/02 at 06:08 (098001)

My 8 y.o. daughter has developed a small golf ball size on the back of her heel. Shoes don't bother her it only hurts when bumped. I also have the same thing on one of my heels and also my mother. Is there a name for this and what causes it?
Thanks

It could be a spur on the back of the heel (I have one there), or the achilles tendon might be inflamed-the Dr. called it a pumpbump-says women who wear heels get it fairly often-I only wear them to church on Sunday. Mine only hurts when I press on it-or wear shoes that rub there.
