PF examination

Posted by Steve on 10/23/02 at 12:13 (098147)

Just had examination from Pod who reckons I haven't got PF. This is fine except he didn't seem to be palpating my foot very hard during the examination. he almost just seemed to be 'touching' my foot. Surely if you have PF you would need to 'poke' quite hard to elicit some pain ?

What would you normally expect ?

Here is the typical pf examination.

Detailed history and physical
Lower extremity evaluation including gait analysis
Range of motion of ankle joint and all metarsal heads and spaces
Deep palpation of the entire plantar fascia at the insertion and the entire length. Examination of all ligaments and tendons

We do an ultrasound examination to evaluate for any tears, hypertropy and edema to the plantar fascia
