Mary,

I don't know what your history is with foot problems, or what treatments you have already tried. The surgery you named is risky, and most foot and ankle specialists recommend that other treatments should be tried first. Please tell us what treatments you have already had (medicines you have taken, injections, foot inserts or orthotics, etc.), so perhaps we can try to help.

Mary,

Reading these message boards is a very good start, toward learning more about your foot problems and the treatments and/or surgery that may help to make you better. People here will try to help.

If you want to learn more about Plantar Facaetis, read the Heel Pain Book (to find it, just click on the link -- the blue letters in this message). It provides lots of information about the problem and how it is treated, including tips about some helpful things that you can do at home without doctor's orders.

I also suggest that you look at the 'Tarsal Tunnel Syndrome' message board. At the very top of the Tarsal Tunnel Syndrome (TTS) board, you will find links to a FAQ (by Wendyn) and a webiste by Steve, both of which offer lots of good information about TTS.

Hi Mary, i hope you didnt get the surgery done yet. I had tarsal tunnel surgery and a heel spur removed on 2/28/01. I will regret it for the rest of my life. It was performed on my right foot, and I need it done on my left, but I wont even consider it! I had to have a very small pin put on my achilles tendon and it is very bothersome. I cant wear a lot of shoes anymore, Im still in a great deal of pain daily. So please it may not be worth it. Consider all of your options first. Thank you and good luck!!
