A Year After Surgery

Posted by Anthony P on 11/09/02 at 22:05 (099688)

Hi , everyone . November 7th was a year since my surgery for Planter fascia release open, heel spur removed , achilles tendon repair , and tendon repair to ankle , So I had surgery in three places on my left foot . A fracture to my heel in Feb 2000
later turned into Plantar faciitis, and achilles tendonitis .The surgery went O.K. for the amount of surgery I had I was walking
again in five weeks . One month of rehab later I returned to work . I started a new job as a repair specialist
this requiered 8 to 10 hours a day on concrete floors . The first few weeks were rough and at the time I though I could work
through . It was the busy season the work had to get out so I continued to work hard .
My foot got so unbearable to walk I had to go on lite duty . Thats when I knew I could no longer do my job .
I'm now going back to college ,

MY CONDITION NOW : I still have plantar fasiittis and achilles tentonitis I go to P. T. four days a week . this is helping some
But I still must tape my foot , I have the morning pain , I cant stand for a long time . I still limp around after those long drives
sorry this is long just want to say DONT HAVE THE SURGERY . Go with all the conservative treatments
Best wishes Anthony P : )

anthony, i'm really sorry your surgery didn't work out. but i have to tell you, i read your posts, and i think you're a gutsy and courageous person. it's great that you're going back to college! it's hard to lose a job, i know the feeling from personal experience with bad foot problems too. i hope your new schooling becomes interesting and takes you down new and enriching roads you never before imagined yourself traveling.

it's also great that you continue to post updates on this site. thanks for that, and i wish you well in everything.

Hi Anthony , Wow I can't believe it has already been a year since you had your surgery . Time sure flys .... I want to say I am so very sorry you are still in a lot of pain . But I am so happy you are going to go to school. I always tell myself that their is a reason for everything that happens good or bad....

Just maybe the reason you hurt your foot is , now you are going to go back to school and learn something new... I hope and pray for you that you get a great job that you will love. Oh yeah let's not forget , I hope you make more money and that the new job won't hurt your feet. I also lost my job due to my foot problels. I have been off work now for over three years .. I can't believe it has been that long ......

I am dealing with new foot problems now . My Pod says I have TTS again . I will be going to two different doctors this week . One is a Workers comp do and the other is a Ortho my Pod is sending me to for a second opinion .

I just had another MRI about two weeks ago .Not much showed up on it . That is good , but also not so good . I was hoping something would of showed up that could be fixed. Just lucky thinking I guess on my part.

Please keep us posted on your school and your foot .

How is your daugther doing ? I remember you had said she was only a few months old when your foot problems started...

Take care and thank you for your update ..... Laurie R

Laurie R, sorry for your continuing problems. Can I ask, what do you mean when you say you have TTS again? How was that determined? Post-surgical nerve irritation is not always TTS again. It can take a while to get substantial relief, sometimes several years, even with setbacks along the way.
