tarsal tunnel syndrome

I don't have foot pain, but I do have a reduction of feeling on the soles of my feet. I can feel a cold floor, but I still have considerable numbness to the point that it is very uncomfortable to walk in bare feet. I sleep in socks to reduce the feeling of numbness. I have had a heel spur in each foot at different times, but these do not bother me now. I wear orthotics, and I walk a considerable amount. I fear surgery as my feet do work now, and who knows what may happen if I have surgery, and, also, would surgery after a number of years of having the problem relieve the numbness?
