Posted by Samantha H. on 1/07/03 at 16:36 (105037)

I am to have a cheilectomy in March for stage 3 Hallux Rigidus in one foot.
Please tell me what to expect afterwards in the way of recovery, and will there be much pain? I am 51

Could have a lot of pain for a few days. Important to keep the joint bending and moving. Sutures out in two weeks. Sore and swellling for about three to six months sometimes. Sometimes a crutuch for two days due to pain. Some patients have little to no pain.
