What to do when there's multiple diagnosis(TTS,PF, AT) & conservative tmt conflicts?

Posted by Donna H. on 1/21/03 at 13:16 (106150)

OK- I hear other members say, 'Wear high heels for that PF.' I can barely walk from room to room, w/o groans, moans & sometimes actual scream from the Achilles tendonitis & clench/grind my teeth, take deep breaths, & sometimes shed tears when 'electrocuted' in left foot from TTS! The TTS diagnosis, both feet, made(by EMG-)July 02. Left foot probably 50% or more worse (frequency/severity of symptoms). So what does one do when w/ 1 diagnosis, you should stay off your feet, wear flats, etc (I MUST wear flats, & live in thickly padded houseshoes @ home), but w/ other diagnosis its better to walk, wear heels, etc..? I could NEVER wear heels right now! I tried a month ago, but couldn't even make it down the stairs w/o extreme pain. Don't know what to do, if I want to work as long as possible. Just getting into referrals/tmt stage (seeing new ortho 2/24) - so if the norm for Achilles tendonitis is casting, what about the TTS & PF during that time? For Achilles tendonitis I can feel more pain, more stiffness, new -deep ankle/calf aching/stretching and/or PF extreme pain 3-4 days wk? Thanks - Donna

No no, Donna, they don't mean HIGH heels for PF. A little heel lift will help your PF and Achille tendonitis a little. By this, what is meant is just a little... an inch should be more than enough and a half inch would be more like it. It's not necessary for healing PF, but it helps some people. Don't do it if it isn't more comfortable.

I don't mean to comment on anything related to TTS because I don't have it and don't know about it. But PF and Achilles tendonitis, I know all too well.
