Seavers Disease?

Posted by Cris C on 1/26/03 at 14:26 (106861)

What is 'Seavers Disease'? What are the suspected causes?
What would be the best treatment for relief from the pain? Any medicine recommendations? Any therapy recommendations?
A friend's son (age 12)was recently diagnosed with this and is still in a lot of pain. My son is a friend of his and they participate in several sports together. Is this something I should watch for in my son?

This is inflamation of the growth plate in the heel bone. It is where the achilles tendon inserts into the growth plate. Treament consists of rest,
taping. new shoes. If there is an abnormal gait due to poor biomechanics then orthosis can do wonders

Is there a recommended pain medicine to take? As mentioned in my previous post the boy is 12 years old.
