back of heel pain

Posted by Linda L on 1/27/03 at 22:37 (107082)

I thought I had plantar fasciitis, but now I am not sure. I have a somewhat large (about 3/4 of an inch in diameter) lump at the back of my foot. It is not on the bottom. It is somewhat painful, especially if I bump it. What might this be? I have an appointment with a podiatrist in February. Thank you for any info you may have.

This could be a spur and or bursitis. Mostly likely a spur in the achilles tendon or what is called a hagland's deformity. X-ray and physical examination will make an easy diagnosis
