pain from slip of fascia at base of toe!

Posted by Peter F on 2/06/03 at 13:12 (108220)

Dear docs

As well as usual PF I also have a very tender spot where the fascia inserts into the medial aspect of the base of the proximal phalynx of my 4th toe-my foot surgeon feels that is anatomically what is causing the pain-I remember very well getting a sudden pain there 2 yrs ago during a lunge in squash-perhaps I've ruptured it -I dont know-its only a small spot but stops me wearing most shoes apart from one pair (with a stiff sole)-I was so intent on sorting my heels out that I forgot to ask about any treatment-is it worth getting a steroid injection in that spot??

Thanks for any thoughts

This is very possible . It could also be a neuroma. Either way yes a local steriod injection may very well stop the pain
