Hallux Rigidus

Posted by Sam Hipgrave on 2/10/03 at 18:55 (108738)

I am told I have stage 3 Hallux rigidus in one foot and am due to have a cheilectomy. Has anyone had this operation and could tell me how it was?

Sam:

A cheilectomy is generally performed for stage 1 and perhaps stage 2 hallux limitus but not stage 3. It is the simplest of the procedures for hallux rigidus with potentially the fastest recovery but you need to be certain that it is the right procedure for you before proceeding.

Sam, I've been told I have that, too, just curious: What exactly are your symptoms right now, and how much is it limiting you? Sharon F.
