Foot that turns outward

Posted by Carlos S on 2/13/03 at 17:55 (109092)

My 14 yr old has a right foot that turns out. I am his father and am getting ready for total hip replacement on my left hip and my surgeon believes tha it was due to hip dysplacia. My left foot turned out all my life. Is there a correlation between feet thatturn aoutward and dysplacia? I worry about his future and am going to take him to an Ortho, but I wanted to know if there is literature I could read or if you had any knowledge of this. Thanks for your time.

Carlos:

The list of reasons for a foot turning out include: hip dysplasia, outward twist in the thigh bone, knee problems, outward twist of the leg bone, overpronation...... It really requires an evaluation by a professional to identify the cause or at least narrow it down.
