Considering eswt for foot with p.f. and possibly t.t.s. Does anyone know if eswt would be harmful being that my foot might also have tts.

Perhaps one of the doctors will respond to this and give you a (much) more expert opinion, but from what I understand, ESWT can *probably* be done safely on the PF of someone who has TTS as long as nerves in the heel and arch area are not involved. (I think foot and ankle specialists may not all agree on that point though.)

ESWT cannot be used to treat TTS.

There is no absolute contraindication for TTS,PF and ESWT. Here is what I do for this specific condition. Is the pain coming from the TTS or is it coming from the pf. How can we tell? This is where ultrasound comes into play. If there is an abnormal ultrasound reading on the plantar fasciitis, then you have pf. Then it is reasonable to use ESWT for the pf. There is still a change that the true pain is coming from the TTS and that the pf is secondary, but I would only consider treating the pf with ESWT if there is abnormal ultasound and trigger point pain on palpation at the plantar medial insertion. Does this help you at all

Yes, you have been a great help. I think the possible TTS is secondary to the PF which began many years prior to the TTS diagnosis. This diagnosis was made as a result of a very small cyst on the (ganglion nerve? forgive my ignorance on these terms) My current podiatrist did not think this was significant and really believes that ESWT is worth a shot at this point. Have this thing in both feet, and they both feel the same, with or without the cyst. my first ESWT was done as part of an FDA study in Manhattan, I am now opting for the second one for the other foot. I appreciate your answer to this question and others I have posted this week. You were a great help.

So they know you have TTS and pf and have included you in the FDA study or is the second foot being done outside of the FDA study.?

The second foot is being done outside the study. decided to go ahead with this foot because I am beginning to put more pressure on the treated foot to avoid pain in the untreated one. Scheduled for this tomorrow, hope I am not rushing things, but I really don't want to do anything that will interfere with the recovery of the foot which was treated a few weeks ago.

Are you having treatment on the orbasone machine?

It is the orbasone pain relief system by Orthometrix Inc. The product name you wrote in was censored, mine will probably be also.
