Sure glad they finally got someone. I'd tell you what I'd do with this sub human but ...... better not. Let's spend millions to try him instead.
Re: they got one !!!BGCPed on 3/02/03 at 15:14 (111451)
i say wrap him in bacon and bury him under a pig pen...make sure he doesnt get to those 72 virgins
Re: they got one !!!Carole C in NOLA on 3/02/03 at 15:47 (111459)
Everybody in the news media seems to assume that Pakistan will extradite him or that we'll have something to do with this. But I haven't heard Pakistan say a single word about handing him over to us, although the CIA apparently were the ones to find him.
Too bad, BGCPed, although I can sure relate to what you posted, it doesn't look like we will have much say in it. Of course, maybe I misread the news releases! (?)
Re: they got one !!!BGCPed on 3/02/03 at 16:14 (111462)
Just like Turkey I am sure they will have their price to comply. Turkey is playing poker with us. I think Bush should make the offer 1 more time and point out that if/when we do it and they dont help we will remember it for a long time. to split the north and south iraq it would help but we dont need them to do the job.
Re: interesting article on capturemarie on 3/02/03 at 17:12 (111467)
We can only hope that this willbe the first of many more arrests to come. I heard today that he was being interegated in an undisclosed location by the CIA.
Re: they got one !!!Marty on 3/02/03 at 17:23 (111471)
LOL, BG That's creative, I sure wouldn't of thought of that one!
Re: interesting article on captureMarty on 3/02/03 at 17:33 (111475)
GO CIA !!!!! I say they get to do to him what Iraq does to the children of parents they want cooperation from !!! Let'em scream for a while .
Re: interesting article on captureBGCPed on 3/02/03 at 17:48 (111477)
No chance. He will get 3 hots and a cot, get to pray, be given a koran and a cleric. Have is food per his religion. Get great medical care and we will pay for an expensive legal defense. Should it be the other way around you would get your tongue and feet cut off in front of 10,000 nut jobs in a soccer stadium.
He should get simple things like that IF he sings like a bird, which he pobably wont. They should sneak hi sandals at night and raise the arch about 1 inch and glue a pebble under the topcover of each heel....then make him march
pretty mean huh?
Re: they got one !!!Carole C in NOLA on 3/02/03 at 17:52 (111478)
Aha! The NBC evening news just said that he's been handed over to U.S. custody. How they managed to do that, I have no idea!!! But that should be helpful for interrogation purposes as well as bringing him to justice.
Re: interesting article on capturemarie on 3/02/03 at 18:42 (111482)
The reason why they are interegating him in another country is so the can use torture. Some feel that most of these guys are being interegated in Turkey. Turkey doesn't have the same laws as we do for interegating prisoners. The CIA will ask the questions but I suppose it will be the Turks who get the answers out of him. It is a closely kept secret as to where they interegate these prisoners so I can't say it is for sure Turkey.
Turkey is close and irregardless of recent events Turkey was very supportive of the U.S. and its pursuit of bin-laden. Remember almost half of Turkies Paraliment voted to allow us to use their bases. We still have many allies and operatives there.
Re: they got one !!!john h on 3/02/03 at 18:52 (111484)
BG they can move those guys out of Turkey and those waiting on ships on into Kuwait. The U.S. said fish or cut bait. I think if Turkey does not come around they will move on next week. Reports out of Turkey they are between a rock and a hard place. They were counting on those billions, all the money the GI's would spend and some influence in northern Iraq after a war. There economy is already on the brink and tomorrow their stock market is expected to take a big nose dive. Three Arab nations have asked Saddam to resign. Even North Korea has offered him sancutary and asked that he avoid war. For you history buffs Iraq was a British colony for over half of the 20th century and was under its military protection until after WWII. 80% of its people are Arabic and 15% Kurds. the Kurds do not speak Arabic and detest their Arabic rulers. Iraq wanted to join in with Italy and Germany during WWII but the British moved in and put a stop to that. The Turks still would like to get control of Northern Iraq and this most recent move by them to not allowany more troops in Turkey will kill any hopes they have of having any influence after a possible war.
Re: they got one !!!john h on 3/02/03 at 18:54 (111485)
Carole last word I had he has been handed over to Americans and moved to some undisclosed location. This guy may be of more real importance than Bin Laden as he is the guy who actually plans the operations including 9/11. I think they recovered all his computers so there shold be some good info available.
Re: they got one !!!john h on 3/02/03 at 18:56 (111487)
Actually Marty we have captured many of their leaders. The news covered all the major guys they had captured this PM. They are making headway.
Re: they got one !!!Marty on 3/02/03 at 19:59 (111500)
Oh that's great! I guess you can tell where my head has been the past few months. Feet probs
Re: interesting article on captureMarty on 3/02/03 at 20:01 (111501)
I like your think BG. You plan ... build some bad orhtodics and he will sing like a bird. LOL
Re: interesting article on captureMarty on 3/02/03 at 20:06 (111502)
Getting answers it of the utmost importance here. I'm thinking slap him around just cause he's a bad guy but it's the answers we need not revenge.
Re: they got one !!!Dr Z on 3/02/03 at 20:32 (111512)
All will be tried in Military Courts not civil with the dealth penalty already in the works
Re: they got one !!!Marty on 3/02/03 at 20:41 (111514)
That's to easy ..... that's the great compliment they can get. They better make it nice and slow. I like BG suggestions.
Re: interesting article on captureSherry on 3/02/03 at 20:42 (111515)
Hey does everyone out here have probs with feet?
Re: they got one !!!Sherry on 3/02/03 at 20:47 (111516)
DR. Z have you seen any of my messages?
Re: interesting article on captureBGCPed on 3/02/03 at 21:28 (111525)
I say let him talk and promise him things. Make a propaganda video like they would do. if he gives valid information then promise him a long sentence but give him parole treatment like Manson gets. If he doesnt then get tough. Usually the leaders are more smart and less guts, thats why they get young dumb ones to do the dirty dangerous work. They are like bullies that get freaked out when they see blood from their own nose.
The Turks can be real s.o.b. with torture interogation. I dont normally support that but in this situation for these people nothing is too inhumane
Re: they got one !!!Ed Davis, DPM on 3/03/03 at 01:18 (111546)
The Turks are giving up several billion dollars in aid from the US, a say in what will happen to Kurdistan and possibly a chunk of the oil fields in Northern Iraq. Why do you think they are giving up so much?
Re: they got one !!!Carole C in NOLA on 3/03/03 at 05:44 (111550)
Yes, John, it was great to hear on last night's evening news that he is in American custody!
Apparently there is no question about what he has done, and he boasts of it. What a monster. He has caused so much grief in our country, and the world because of the reverbrations from what he has done. I would like to see justice done now. I hope they get all the information they want out of him quickly, so justice can be swift and certain, too.
I don't want much of my tax money to go towards food and shelter for this coldblooded unrepentant confessed terrorist mass murderer. That would not be my idea of justice. When I think of the innocents with no choice but to dive head first from the upper floors of the WTC on 9/11, I find myself getting pretty coldblooded as well.
Re: they got one !!!BGCPed on 3/03/03 at 06:55 (111553)
Carole that is well put. I think it is easy for too many people to forget about those people. Not 9-11 but the actual horror they went through. Also the people that went down in the field after fighting the muderers, as well as the pentagon plane.
We have exercised great care and humility when we could have made large parts of the world a sandbox. Sometimes I wish we would be more like Israel and expedite the justice in a faster and more forceful manner. The argument is that doing so could inflame the radicals and encourage more. The way I see it there are a certain number of fanatics that hate our country.
I view them like rats that have invaded a barn. If you eliminate as many as possible that lessens the chance that one of them will be able to spread or cause problems. If you say let them alone to get bigger and cause more damage and maybe they will be nice.....not going to happen. We seem to forget we are not dealing with rational thinking people.
Getting at the heads of the snake lkike this guy is a great blow. The money and training is coming from somewhere. The poor dumb kids that these guys poison the minds of to do their dirty work arent born like that.
Re: they got one !!!Leon S on 3/03/03 at 08:57 (111559)
What surprises me is that I haven't heard any of the 'war supporters' use this capture to gloat and say 'see, we ARE able to wage the war against AlQaeda while putting the screws to Saddam'. As much as I have said in the past that I am an avowed fence straddler on the Iraq issue, it does show that we are doing alot of unpublicized work with our allies behind the scenes to track down the 9/11 terrorists. I know the administration really needed the positive publicity about this capture but I wish they would have waitied a few days more before releasing the information so that they would have had a better jump on capturing others that might have been located from the information they uncovered.
Re: interesting article on captureLeon S on 3/03/03 at 09:03 (111560)
Maybe he should be forced to read these message boards!
Re: they got one !!!john h on 3/03/03 at 09:37 (111563)
The war against Al Queda and terriorism is largely a war of intelligence gathering and police type work. It is not like a possible ground war in Iraq. One would in no way effect the other. The U.S. Military for some years has plans to be able to fight at least two major ground wars at the same time if needed. The idea that some people throw out that we cannot fight Iraq and Al Queada at the same time is absurd. Iraq will be defeated and it will not take long. I think even the most vocal critics of a possible war know this is not match. They have no navy, no air force, and their weapons other than weapons of mass destruction ase out of date. If they use biological or gas weapons this could change things but if those against the war are correct they do not have such weapons?
Re: they got one !!!john h on 3/03/03 at 09:49 (111564)
BG there are a large number of people who will hate us war or no war and there are a substantial number who will continue to attack Americans anywhere and anyway they can. If we back away from this situation now can you imagine how our allies in the mid-east would respond? They would never trust us again. We would be viewed as weak and a pushover by all in the mideast. Our press and the Democrats would be all over Bush as weak. the only way we will not go to war is if Saddam and his henchmen leave or they totally disarm. The only reason there are inspections is because of our force in the mideast. If we were not there nothing would be happening and the U.N. would be doing nothing and powerless. It is hard to believe that some of the countries that will vote on the upcoming resolution are countries like Guianna and some other very small countries who stand to lose nothing or contribute nothing. Do I want my future and my countries future in the vote of such nations? No! Some of the real major nations of the world should be brought in as permenant members of the Security Council. Nations like Japan and India. France has not been a major influential nation since befor WWII. France is actively working against us while Russia may vote against us on a vote they are not actively promoting anti Americanism. .
Re: they got one !!!john h on 3/03/03 at 09:55 (111565)
Carole this guy was educated in the U.S. and speaks excellent English. I think he may be a Doctor or have his Doctorate. Funny thing he very much lkes the ladies and from some of the information I am reading this may have led to his capture. If he were a true Fundementalist he would not mess around with the ladies. Just goes to show you a woman can really get you in trouble.
Re: they got one !!!john h on 3/03/03 at 10:04 (111567)
Ed: They are having some 2nd thoughts and may have a 2nd vote as reality starts to set in. Our Northern Front in a possible war was not going to be a major front in any event. We still have a number of warplanes in turkey that will operate from there. I see most of the human shields are packing their bags and getting out of Dodge. They did not stay very long. Wonder what changed their minds? We have such a powerful force I just do not see how Iraq can withstand the first punch of at least 3000 weapons that can render them without communication, destroy all infrasturcture that is military related before the tropps and tanks even begin to move. I remember Gulf War I when the media hyped the Elite Republican Guard as people who would fight to the death and were a real force. In reality the were ill equipped and had no stomach for a fight. Our media seems to make out these people to be a lot more than they are.
Re: interesting article on capturejohn h on 3/03/03 at 10:10 (111568)
The Turks as warriors are not to be counfused with the Iraquis. They are ruthless and will fight you tooth and nail. In the late 1950's I was flying 100 Turkish high ranking officers from the U.S. to Turkey. They had attended our National War College. About 3 hours out from landing I got a message to return to Germany that there was a revolution of sorts going on and the Officers on board could be murdered if we landed. I think we had a few groups of Turks in Vietnam and as I recall the North Vietnam soldiers really were scared of being captured by these guys as they were ruthless..
Re: interesting article on capturejohn h on 3/03/03 at 10:12 (111569)
How about giving him a full PF release on both feet using a scope. He will talk after a few weeks.
Re: interesting article on capturejohn h on 3/03/03 at 10:19 (111571)
Some of the more modern effective means of interrogation due not include torture. The U.S. has publically stated they will not violate the rules of the Geneva Convention in interrogation. Some of these guys for whatever reason talked all day long without any pressure. They did obtain several of his computers which should have some information. They will obtain some information from him you can count on it. How much he has is another question. It is not like these guys talk to each other every day or even know where each other are. First word is that he has largely been involved in obtaining money and new recruits. From looking at his room he was not living the high life.
Re: they got one !!!Leon S. on 3/03/03 at 14:44 (111616)
That was my point. Many critics of the impending war against Saddam say that we should be concentrating our efforts against AlQueada since they were the ones directly responsible for 9/11 instead of focusing on Iraq. This recent success shows that both can be done and I was surprised that the 'hawks' haven't used this opportunity to gloat a little more.
Re: they got one !!!Carole C in NOLA on 3/03/03 at 15:09 (111625)
LOL! That is interesting.
When I was working on my electrical engineering degree in Texas, many of my fellow students were from other countries.
A few of my fellow students were Muslim extremists, and open about it although they did not proselytize at all. Nobody really cared enough to ask much about it, but in retrospect, probably we should have found out more. As far as I could tell, they lived nearly monk-like lives. But then, most EE majors did at that university. There wasn't time for much else... Talk about a bunch of geeks. LOL
Re: interesting article on captureCarole C in NOLA on 3/03/03 at 16:33 (111632)
Aw c'mon, Leon! We're not THAT bad, usually. (grin)
Re: they got one !!!BGCPed on 3/03/03 at 17:31 (111644)
And one of 9-11 terrorists got a few hookers the night before in Boston. Several others were at a strip bar in Florida getting lap dances. Sure is mighty devout behavior from folks willing to murder and die for Allah.
I wonder when the mainstream Muslims will really denounce and crack down on the radical murderous portion of their religion. I am rather sick of hearing the old phrase Muslims are a peace loving people.
This is not a slam at Muslims but for being so peace loving there sure is loads of violence, against innocents no less I hate to say this but there is much more tolerance of it than gets let on. Even some governments like saudi arabia play nice in public but if we had the guts to dig deep we wouldnt be happy with what we find.
Re: interesting article on captureSharon W on 3/03/03 at 22:50 (111679)
Yes, we do have allies in Turkey, but I do note that the news is reporting 90% of public opinion in Turkey was opposed to allowing the US to have troops attack from there. Public opinion in Turkey is overwhelmingly against a new war on Iraq just as it is in all the Muslim world and with the populations of most of the nations of the world. I think Turkey's government might have actually been driven from power if they had agreed to host US troops. But I think they will pay a very high price (economically) for their parliament's decision.
