ESWT and night splintsPosted by Rose.M on 3/03/03 at 11:07 (111587)
For those of you who has had ESWT, did you continue to use night splints, taping? If so, did you feel it helped the morning pain or did it further irritate the area which was treated?

It has been 1 week post ESWT and my podiatrist said 'do nothing' just let it heal. My heel has been sore most of the 7 days showing no signs of improving just yet....need to give it 1 to 3 months time.

My Dr. also said no night splints were needed. They were never helpful to me anyway, I guess. I just do a lot of stretching.

Interesting you were told to do stretching - mine said no stretching to promote healing.
And they said nothing to me about night splints - biggest emphasis they made is minimizing being on my feet and to rest it along with PT stuff.

Were you advised to use heat, or cold, after your Ossatron treatment?

In a way, both. I ice at home - I was not told to do any heat home nor was I told not to - but they do warm whirlpool baths for PT 2x/wk when I go to the office - along with ultrasound
