Unhealthy Shoes?

Posted by Chelsea H on 3/03/03 at 23:50 (111681)

Hi Doctors,
I'm wondering if my daily wearing of open heeled clogs is the cause of my heel pain. Through my recent start of research on heel pain, I'm worried that clogs and/or slip on shoes do not support the heel as well as tie shoes, & could be the cause of heel pain. The APMA seems to recommend shoes which support the front, back & sides of the foot. -So am I understanding my problem correctly? I stand for long periods of time in customer service. (selling shoes, no less!) Please help,

Clogs, as a class of shoes, tend to be okay for standing, not quite as good for walking. Please read Scott's Heel Pain book. The type of clog will have some bearing as does your foot type.
