Bob Dole vs BillClintonPosted by marie on 3/09/03 at 16:48 (112356)
Did I hear correctly? Dole and Clinton are going to debate tonight on Dateline.
Ought to be interesting.
As I have shared with you folks before I probably fall somewhere between moderate (mostly moderate) and left politically...here's the twist my hubby is opposite. He is mostly conservative about everything. His family has always assisted the Republican presidential candidate in some way. His father owned an airport and is a pilot....so he usually flies some of the Republicans around to check security etc...in the midwest. Well when Bob Dole was running my husband photographed him and we were invited to eat breakfast with him. My husband wouldn't let me go because I wasn't happy with Dole's comments about teachers. Like I would be that rude as to bring that up. My hubby did tell me Dole was the nicest celebrity he's photographed. Very polite and kind.

Since I have some very close ties with a high ranking politician, I try to stay out of these posts regarding politics. The debate was also played out on Saturday Night Live, Did you happen to see that?

I think each guy only get 2 minutes and this will run for 10 weeks. Each person will be paid $100,000 each week for the 2 minute drill.

Good Lord....$50,000 per minute? I think the money could be spent on something much better than this.

They are both professionals and good speakers, but let's assume each is ten times more interesting than me. No, let's say 100 times more interesting! OK, that's reasonably modest.
Then, I should be able to earn $1000 for 2 minutes. That would be $30,000/hour. Since I work a 40 hour week, that would be equivalent to $62,400,000/year. Where do I sign up? LOL
Oh, I know they do a lot of background work and probably actually do earn this money and have worked all their lives to get to this point. I'm just enjoying a pleasurable daydream. :)

Carole: That number is $100,000.00 each for 2 minutes each.or $1 million each for the 10 weeks.

That's even better. If they earn $100,000 for each 2 minutes, and it comes to $1,000,000 a week, that means that they only work 20 minutes a week.
Now THAT's a work schedule worth pursuing.
Sorry, I'm still feeling whimsical! :)

Necee, Yes I saw the SNL debate. I thought it was a little more entertaining than the real one. What a hoot.
