I am in the military. I was diaganiosed with plantar facitias 4 years ago. My doctors just gave me asprin for the first 2 years and told me to go buy more shoes. I am currently in a cast now. My doctor suggest that I keep my cast on for a month. She wants to perform surgery if the casting does not work. Should I get the surgery?

A cast can rest the plantar fasciitis and provide relief but have you had the conventional treatment for this problem? Read Scott's Heel Pain Book on this site to gain an understanding of how PF is treated. Surgery is a last resort -- not something to consider until all reasonable conservative treatment options have been used.
