Have patient numbers dropped because of SARS fear?Posted by Pauline on 4/23/03 at 16:53 (116950)
I'm wondering if Bayshore has noticed a drop in patients from the U.S. because of the SARS attention given Toronto cases on TV?

Life goes on as normal in Toronto despite the SARS problem. The reported SARS cases are nosocomial infections and are contained in 3 or 4 hospitals. The general public is not at risk and the situation is managed well by the public health authorities. This was even confirmed by the CDC team who arrived here the day before yesterday. However, the media has painted a scary picture about Toronto, comparing it with Hong Kong and keeping many tourists away.
We have noticed a minor decrease in our out-of-town ESWT patients (USA and Canada) for May and first half of June. But there were no cancellations for this month.
