Does anyone know how it works on nerve pain? Does it actually do something or is it like a pain reliever?

I am not a Doctor but I have been on Neurontin for 5 years now. I am a Diabetic, with nerve damage in my feet and it works wonders on the nerve pain I have. It is not a per say pain killer but the neurotin some how relaxs the nerves so they dont throb. It doesnt have any side effects like those heavy pain killers. I found out that it also helps to put me in a great mood... maybe because the pain is no longer there. My hubby says 'did you take your happy pill today???' lol I hope this helps you as it helped me and I hope I helped you on your question.
