Bunions painPosted by Amber on 5/15/03 at 14:47 (118877)
I have seen a night splint for this and wonder if this would work to correct the problem. They haven't been a problem until now; occasionally experience some pain, and a blister on the bunion on my left foot. I am not ready to look into surgery yet.

some people like the splints, some don't. My wife, for example, hated using it at night. She found it very cumbersome. I have also had people say that they love the hallux valgus splints. They are not expensive, so it could not hurt to try it.
If you do not already have orthotics, that is an alternative to surgery. They will not reverse the hallux valgus, but what they can do is provide adequate support to your arch. If made correctly (I always have to stress 'correctely', an orthosis will help take the load off your first met head and hopefully relieve pain and reduce callouses and blisters.
