Bunions and Pain

Posted by Amber on 5/15/03 at 14:51 (118878)

I posted this on the orthotic board as well but could one of the docs tell me if a night splint for bunions do actually work to correct the problem? I have occasional pain in one of them. I don't think I am ready to look into surgery. Thanks

Amber,

Unfortunately night splints will not help a painful bunion (or a non painful bunion). If you have transient pain, you may want to ask your doctor about an injection to relieve the pain and decrease the local inflammation. This will not 'get rid' of the bunion, but may aid in making you much more comfortable.
