I have been doing calf stretches and using VISCOLAS BLUE DOT HEEL CUPS to relieve my symptoms of achilles tendonitis. There has been no relief. What is usually the next step in tx?

Does your achilles hurt at the back of the heel or higher up? Have you had your ankle dorsiflexion range of motion measured (how far the foot bends up on the leg)?

My heel pain is more toward the back of the heel. I also have arch pain. I think the heel cups make the arch pain worse.
I have not had a range of motion dorsiflexion exam.
The orthopedist that I saw said that I shouldn't be wearing my custom made leather orthotics.
What do you recommend?
I really appreciate your help.

Heel cups often do make arch pain worse. I have not seen your orthotics but generally speaking, orthotics should help both the arch and the back of the heel.

When should I notice a change with the heel cups? I am wondering how long I should wear it. Also, I notice that my orthotics are made with a hard heel.
Thank you for your help
