my heel looks like its white and spongelike with small hole & grooves some dischargePosted by w stoklousa on 5/21/03 at 00:08 (119464)
just got back from a quickcare and they referred me to a specialist...unfortunately i may not see him till later next week..any ideas of what i may have here or what i should do.
it's gotten worst and the last few days my socks actually stick to the heel of my foot and i know there is some sorta discharge ( staining of sock)..
the appearance is a bumpy spongue like and white around the edges like its infected but no pain...a warm feeling and bad odor.

Just in case no doctors jump in, I'd like to advise you to go to the emergency room at the nearest hospital tomorrow. I can't imagine waiting until next week to see a specialist!

It isn't easy to do dermatology without actually seeing things. Nevertheless, the entity you describe sounds a lot like pitted keratolysis which is caused by a Coryneform bacteria and is treated via topical antibiotics. There are probably individuals out there who can see you on shorter notice -- all office personnel have to make decisions based on the urgency of the caller.
