contemplating PF surgery

Posted by Gerry A on 6/04/03 at 21:30 (120983)

I am a high milage runner who is suffring from PF. Have had 2 injections and a bottle of anti inflamitories. Although the pain is now manageable
I haven't been able to run for 2 months. My Dr. is telling me there is only one thing left and that is surgery.

I can live with the pain I have for day to day events. However, I can't run and I'm contemplating surgery. My question is, will I be able to do marathons again if I have the surgery?

Gerry - Surgery is a last resort. Read the heel pain book on this site and make sure you are taking advantage of all the options. If you don't notice improvement after 6 months or so, you may need to consider ESWT. You can find out a lot about ESWT on this site. I would also hold off on the shots. 3 is the max in any given year.
