confused with new pain

Posted by Rebecca R on 6/17/03 at 13:53 (122130)

I went to the podiatrist about heel pain. I did not have arch pain. She told me to wear arch supports and now I do have arch pain and seemingly more heel pain. I don't understand.

Since the majority of heel pain is caused by the plantar fascia, supporting the plantar fascia often relieves the heel pain. Basic arch supports rarely help, since there is no biomechanical control, and these arch supports can actually be annoying or irritating. An excellent over the counter product is the Powersteps, which are available on this site or on the Powersteps website. Custom orthoses are also excellent, but Powersteps are usually an excellent cost efficient alternative and first step. (around 35-40 dollars).
