When is it ok to use NSAID's and ice after ESWT?Posted by Molly H on 6/29/03 at 22:25 (123169)
I had ESWT on May 14. I am getting better slowly but, surely. I have more good days than bad days and I am considering running (well light jogging) at 8 weeks post.(July 9) I am wondering if I should take any NSAID'S after my 1 mile jog or ice or what should I do? I am afraid to wreck any kind of healing process.

I would have your doctor examine your foot before you jog. If there is any doubt . Don't do it. You are starting to come down the ESWT home stretch so why take the chance

There is no general agreement on when and how to use NSAIDs after ESWT. I feel that the 'acute' inflammatory phase created by ESWT is over as it has been 8 weeks so I would allow mty patients to use NSAIDs at this point. What has your doctor advised?
Consider walking before running to see how you feel, easing into activity slowly.
