Interior rear foot pain midway between my ankle bone and heel

Trying to confirm or counterindicate plantar faciitis -- seems like the pain is too high on the foot. Interior rear foot pain midway between my ankle bone and heel.

A dull pain in that area when I run and if I apply thumb pressure in the area. Light pain while walking.

Started running more about 6 weeks ago (gradual increase from 6 to 30 miles per week), trying to get ready for a half marathon in late August.
New running shoes since then. No other remarkable pain.

Do I have to see a doctor? I have read up on Plantar Fasciitis. Should I try inserts first? Should I get new shoes especially for pronators? I've never had much pronating related pain before. Is is POSSIBLE to run the half marathon (Aug 17, 2003 -- today is Jul 18, 2003)? Should I stop all training immediately? I have. As you can see, timeliness would be a real gift for me if that's possible.

Thank you.
