Foot/Heal PainPosted by BradP on 8/13/03 at 21:16 (126901)
My son is 121/2 YO, playing football; he is having trouble running, although he seems able to walk normally;
He claims he has ankle pain;
My wife is an internist, and has physically examined both ankles, seeing no inflamation;
Another parent mentioned SEAVERS Disease;
What is this, how is it diagnosed; is it related to growing pains?
My son is fairly tall, about 5'4' 130 lbs, and I think he may be due for a growth spurt; o/w he is in good health;

Where specifically is the pain located?
Sever's disease is the most common cause of heel pain in the 10 to 13 yo group. It is an inflammation of the calcaneal apophysis (an apophysis is a growth plate which has a tendon attached).
