Which shoes are the best?Posted by Debbie M on 8/28/03 at 12:37 (128283)
I have what I believe to be plantar faschitis, and have pain in my L heel. I run about 4x/week 3miles a time, and I would have to give up running. So I ice my foot and take nsaids, but when I work, I can't ice it. What kind of shoes are the best? I am a nurse in a busy ER. I've heard birkenstocks are good, are they, and if so, what other ones are good?! Thank You

It really depends on your foot type - high arch or low, flexible feet or not. It's best to be evaluated by a good podiatrist to confirm your self diagnosis and to find out about your foot. Birks have been very good for people, as have danskos (in fact Dansko makes a nurse shoe, i believe.)

PS The Birks that everyone here loves are the Arizonas, which now come in a really nice soft footbed.
