sudden heal painPosted by carolyn on 9/09/03 at 18:03 (129335)
HI, I have beeen wearing cheap high flip flops over the summer. A couple pair have straw bottomsa couple inches high. Very cheap, but they look good. I went shopping wearing these and could barely walk after a couple of hours of shopping.
Now, I have pain in my right heal when I walk on it.
I read online about heal problems and I don't think this is one of the problems that they describe.
It has been hurting me for a week. Just today I started to treat it. I used a heat massage vibrator. Now my foot is on a ice pak.
I would appreciate your professional advice about what I really should be doing to help my heal problem.

First get rid of these shoes. Read the heel pain book. If it were me I would see a podiattrist asap. Early treatment is the key and so is proper diagnosis. So lets find out what is going by seeing a foot specialist

Uh oh. Don't fool around with it. Start wearing good running shoes with extra arch support all the time. Stretch your calves and massage the bottom of your feet in the morning before you get out of bed. Don't ignore it. It can become chronic, 24/7 pain. My experience with podiatrists is that they don't have much to offer, but they can refer to PT which could help.
