Thank you for the photos. As we get closer to the 2 year anniversary my memories are of my father, who's funeral service was on that day, and with the families and friends of those who perished in an unthinkable way.

I was in Wahington DC on the 6 month aniversary. The president gave a speech on the white house lawn to the families who came to mourn. I was at the capital building as the families began showing up for their tour. The line was long and filled with the diversity this country is proud to have.

thanks, marie

Max:

These are events that we shall never forget. They are events that we hope will never be repeated. We are now divided among those that want to take the necessary action to prevent such acts and those who don't. I can only hope that those who are determined to fight terrorism will prevail.

Hi Max,

Nice quality photo's! How did you get down into the pile? Do you work for a newspaper, or something?

Thanks,

Hi Brian,

I didn't take those photos.

They are from a set of 3 CDs containing a bunch of unsorted September 11th photos, videos and radio calls that I bought on eBay a few months back. These CDs seemed to be an amateur production rather than something that you can buy on, say, amazon.com. There were no credits given for any of the photos, therefore I felt free to reproduce them. I hope I didn't violate anything. :'>

That's an interesting allusion. Many worry that the collapse of the Roman empire is the best analogy to what is happening as we watch.

Anybody here read Canticle for Leibowitz?

You wrote: 'We are now divided among those that want to take the necessary action to prevent such acts and those who don't...'

That is a false dichotomy.

I take great umbrage at the simplistic polarization you describe.

All decent, thinking human beings want to end terrorism.

Your expression 'necessary action' is wide open to interpretation and decent human beings of various philosophies can interpret it according to their individual inclinations.

It would appear that your much-vaunted GWB and cohort do not want to take even the 'necessary action' that you seem to espouse, given their tender, loving dealings with the Saudis. So, are you suggesting that your GWB is on the side of 'those who don't?'

I don't think there is any problem in posting them. They did remind me of a guy from high school that has gone on to become a world renouned photographer. He travels the world, but was home in NYC, on 9-11. He grabbed his camera, and credentials, and took some unbelievabe shots that 1st day. Some of them were printed in Time magazine. His name is Jim Natchwey. Click here for the link:

He's been all over the world, to ever hell hole that you can imagine!!
