heel painPosted by Brenda F. on 9/14/03 at 20:42 (130015)
Have had pain in the bottom of my left heel, which at its worse, goes a little way up the sides. I feel that when it goes up the side, it is just swollen, as its mostly in the very bottom. It feels as though the bone is punching thru. Does this come from advancing age? It started before my last physical, and I have gained about 10 pounds in last year. Also, one of my legs has always been a little longer than the other. Of course, its the longer one that is hurting. I have hard wood floors, but, wear walking shoes most all the time. All my doc said, in his hurried exam, was that to loose weight would help. I'm using heel inserts, and they help some, but, if I'm on my feet much, I feel it a lot by the end of the day. Any ideas, or just try the diet? I'm not grossly overweight. Thanks, Brenda

You have a number of issues that need attention by a foot specialist. It is not uncommon for the foot on the longer leg to roll in more (pronate).
That can cause tenderness on the inside of the foot and ankle as well as PF.
