Can't remember who he is so I don't know how interesting he made the place. I guess not toooo much if I don't remember him.

No need to waste my time on something I have no interest in. Perhaps you should just reread what he wrote to fill the loss that you feel. Sounds like you have a lot of new time on your hands.

I'm sorry for the continued disruptions...some people just have no regard for other people, their property, or the law.

Actually that was a very interesting site. Thanks for posting it. We do need a reality check at times. I don't usually respond to you but I think this post, although a littled tempered, was interesting.

thank you, scott. i think most people are overlooking the disruptions and not wasting time and energy on them -- are more interested in other things here.

Is Ultra..David Foster, Joe whatever, Dr Pepper and HAHA? Is Ultra a troll? For those of you that don't know what a troll is. I will share. A troll is someone who intentionally invades a message board for their own misguided purposes. They study everyone's psychy and deliberately insight folks to cause problems. They often post under a variety of names and play games with posters who only have good intentions. 'troll' is an Internet term used by message board administrators. It is not a name we call just anyone. Sometimes a troll will post and appear to be on your side...then post again under another name to be on someone elses side. We have been victims of a troll for some time now. I believe Saul is the troll as well. It is difficult to ban a 'traveling troll' because they have internet access at hotels, airport, cyber cafes etc. They are usually tech oriented geeks that grew up got a job traveling and are simply bored. Please understand that this troll has brought on most of the grief at this board for the past few months. He was not invited by anyone....conservatives and liberals alike. He has absolutely NO association with anyone at this board. He has studied our board and knows our buttons. Until we have to register at this board he will be here. Like it or not. It was suggested to post Ip addresses because of the troll. But IP addresses are private. There are other ways to register....including address checks or email requirements.
Well now that you know what a troll is...take heed my friends because he's not going to go away that easily.
best wishes marie

I just saw on the Food Network yesterday a special program on their top ten mail order food stores. For legal reasons I guess I had better not post their top ten, but I took careful notes. Since I am on crutches for a few more weeks, I am going to do all of my shopping via the internet. Yup -- my closest friends and relatives are going to get gifts of lobsters, cheeses and chocolates. And fruitcake.

Then you'll be needing my exact address, my dear, dear friend, R C...

Questions. One of the things I've always wanted to know is why do feet and cheese smell alike? And how can we eat something that smells like feet?
Re: Limburger cheese. Smells slike this site.Dorothy on 11/11/03 at 12:04 (137054)
I have to question your most unpleasant-to-contemplate premise which, one has to assume, deviates wildly from a fairly ancient truism: one must wash one's feet. One presumes that this would normally be done while also washing the entire body, but if, for some reason, that is not done - perhaps in the interest of efficiency, water conservation, lack of time, or some other reason - then, at very least, the feet must be washed, with regularity. There are certain faiths that even incorporate foot washing in their religious practice representing various attitudes and beliefs - and in the process, getting the feet clean! - so, as you can see, this concept of washing one's feet is well known and well accepted. I encourage anyone to whom this was heretofore a foreign concept to give it a try, and soon. I am going to devote my next few minutes to trying to erase your question from my mind forever. Bathing, my friend, that is your answer! Bathing. Water, and even that luxury item: soap - we call it bathing.

i have time to respond to one post at the moment, so i choose . . . CHEESE. love it. stinky cheese is fine, and so is every other kind. no wonder i like hs.com and all you folks here so much. and comparing this site to limburger cheese is a supreme compliment.
welcome to the social/support board, sher! it's good to have you here. i don't know why people are assuming you have unclean feet. i like to think that feet smell like cheese, not the other way around, and the cheesier the better. my feet even look like cheese sometimes. they looked like swiss cheese when i had all the tendonitises.
does anyone know how to pronounce 'neufchatel' cheese? i really want to know; this is not a test.
also, my very favorite cheddar is canadian cheddar. very very tart and somewhat crumbly. but i can't find it in my town or the city near here. i looked on the web, but wow, it costs a fortune to order. if anyone knows of a reasonably priced canadian cheddar via the internet, will you please let me know?
thank you from nancy, cheese queen
p.s. oh, i'm sorry, richard -- did you want to be cheese queen?

Re: Limburger cheese. Smells slike this site. XXX Never mind that: welcome, sher!Julie on 11/11/03 at 16:22 (137087)
No, it's more like nurf- chatel (but a very soft 'r'). But come to think of it, maybe in NOLA the French pronounciation is closer to noof. Carole?
Re: Limburger cheese. Smells slike this site.Dorothy on 11/11/03 at 16:28 (137090)
Feet that smell like cheese and look like puppies?? I think we're talking about feet that have been taken over by some crazed Wisconsin hobbits. This is not a foot problem. This is an invasion.
Re: Limburger cheese. Smells slike this site. XXX Never mind that: welcome, sher!Dorothy on 11/11/03 at 16:37 (137092)
We get Canadian cheddar from a cheese shop and it is great - I agree with you totally. I think it might be the best cheddar of all cheddar and I am a fan of cheddar - and cheese of all sorts. I will ask them if they do any mail-order and let you know. Their prices are as reasonable as any I've found for good cheese - but I'll ask next time I'm there. (It's not in my town but I travel there with some regularity)
They are reasonable on real Parmigiana-Reggiano and Maytag blue and they sell a cheese that we have gone nuts about (I try not to think about arteries...) which an aged gouda called Old Amsterdam. Oh my goodness - it tastes every so slightly like caramel or nuts or lots of good flavors.
NOT like anybody's feet, I must say! I do hope that image doesn't ruin cheese for me forever - it's too late to make that wish for my feet.

i'm trying to leave, but i can't until we get this straightened out.
could it be 'noof' in the u.s. and 'nurf' in england? 'noof' does sound more like it since the word looks french.
we're getting closer here, anyway. in our house we've been saying 'noif' (as in 'noyf'). it wasn't sitting right with us. and we want to be right as often as possible, even if it's only 10 percent of the time. or less.

dorothy, it sounds as though you should drop the cheese/feet thought/image from your mind/imagination right now. it's not working for you. i can tell that your appreciation of cheese, and especially canadian cheese, is similar to mine. thank you so much in advance for checking with your shop, when you get to, on whether they do mail order. very thoughtful of you!

Re: Limburger cheese. Smells slike this site. XXX Never mind that: welcome, sher!Carole C in NOLA on 11/11/03 at 19:27 (137138)
Just trying to do it within English phonetics, Julie. The French pronunciation would be almost like the oe sound in Goebels, sort of halfway between noof and nurf, and not a sound that I think is often made in English. So, one must approximate. Since neither noof nor nurf is correct, I choose noof due to what Americans sometimes do with an R.
Re: Limburger cheese. Smells slike this site. XXX Never mind that: welcome, sher!Carole C in NOLA on 11/11/03 at 20:03 (137148)
No Noif!!! no no no Lose the Noif. LOLOL
OK, you want French? Try this. Try saying 'nurf', but before you actually say the 'r', put the 'f' on. You definitely don't want an American 'r' on there as pronounced in standard TV American. Julie is as right as I am, though, and almost but not quite saying an 'r' might give you a more correct vowel sound than noof.
Or, you could pretend you just saw a huge gross hairy disgusting piece of black mold in the cheese with a family of crosseyed purple spiders crawling out of it, just before you got to the R. That might give you the correct vowel sound.
If you truly know how to pronounce 'Goebels' in German, to me that vowel sound is the closest I can think of to the vowel sound in Neuf. If you pronounce it like George Gobel, never mind.
By the way, that was 'noof' to rhyme with 'woof', not 'roof'. However, the 'f' (while definitely an 'f' sound) is closer to a 'v' sound than some and not emphasized a whole lot (not like the f's in 'my fru-fru friend Fifi!').
Nobody here is at all interested in the rest of the word but it deserves attention too! 'sha-TEL' Now that's sort of like the Shah of Iran, not the first part of 'shame'. It's definitely not Cha as in chariot, and not sha as in shawl. Tel is easy, like tell... 'Tell Nancy S what you think here.'
Re: Limburger cheese. Smells slike this site. XXX Never mind that: welcome, sher!nancy s. on 11/11/03 at 20:35 (137155)
excellent, carole, i've got it now. thank god you mentioned the 'woof' part, because initially i thought you meant like 'roof,' only some people in some states say 'roof' like 'woof.' but here we say 'roof' like 'goof,' so i know exactly what you mean when you tell me NOT to say 'neuf' like 'roof.' woof woof.

LOL! Judy, you have to look very, VERY closely, especially with the itsy bitsy baby spiders. If you see any of them wearing tiny little thick corrective glasses, that's a good clue. (giggle)
If you think I'm being intricate, look at those other people in the thread near the top! They're completely 'noif'ed. :)

It's been pretty hard to catch up this morning with all this cheesy activity going on while I've been asleep, but yes, I see what you mean. Like oe, somewhere between noof and nurf. Exactly! As Nancy says, woof woof.
Good morning, everybody. I think I'll try and see if I can fill the board up with five million messages whily YOU'RE all asleep and see how you like it. No I won't. it's time for breakfast.
Re: Yes, Carole!nancy s. on 11/12/03 at 08:39 (137206)
good morning, julie. i wish you *would* fill the board with 5 million messages while i'm asleep. let me tell you, it's a downer when i go to bed at midnight, wake up at 5 a.m., and find about two messages. try to do better, ok?
on the other hand, it's a real upper when i wake up unexpectedly at 2:30 a.m. and find you on here, a lone voice lost in the wilderness of feet, cheese, or whatever else sparked something, shall we say 'odd,' the evening before.
i'm going to try not to say 'cheese' again today, but i'm not making any promises either.
Re: Yes, Carole!Julie on 11/12/03 at 09:36 (137210)
I'll do my best, Nancy. But how do you think I feel when I look in again at 15.30 pm (which is 10.30 am EST - time for most of you to be up and about and getting posting) and I find - yes, you guessed it, just two messages.
And not one of them is about cheese. Sigh.
