Heel pain and arch burning 6 mos past surgeryPosted by Pam P on 11/15/03 at 18:59 (137615)
In May 2003 I had surgery consisting of lateral column lengthening arthrodesis of the calcaneal cuboid joint. After the hard cast came off and I wore the walking boot I began to notice a burning sensation in the arch of the foot. That continued through physical therapy and I have been using Lidoderm patches for 12 hour daily periods to ease this. When I spend any time (20 minutes or more) standing or walking the edges of my heel become quite painful. This eases somewhat with sitting but doesn't actually feel better until I apply ice or soak in warm water. Do you have any suggestions?
